Back in 1995, when this record was first released, it infiltrated our shores as a Spanish import on MD Records, which was picked up by Tony De Vit amongst many. It rapidly became a signature tune within his sets and as a result a Trade Anthem. De Vit signed the track to his Jump Wax label a year later and it has become one of the biggest and most recognisable hard house tracs thanks to its percussive intro.
26 years later it sees a release, but tis time a rather special one. Tidy have licensed this monster and have delivered three remixes. The Two here on Tidy and a third on their ground-breaking Untidy UX imprint.
The 2021 remixes see Nicholson and Paul King on remix duties both of whom drop two fantastic versions. Nicholson drops a nice little hard trancer with a snappy acid riff running through it before the infamous synth stabbed Welcome break kicks in got you audio pleasure. This is a powerful beat and introduces the track to a brand-new audience. The original elements such as the vocals and the sounds have been very well integrated into this version.
Paul King is no stranger to the track. He’s also a long-time friend of Tony’s featuring in that infamous photo of Tony and his friends outside Trade one Sunday morning. King has always been a strong and creative producer. Not only has he created a high volume of hard house classics, he also created a number of Trade anthems which the likes of Tony hammered globally.
Paul’s version is a tougher alternative to the original, perfect for those floors where clubbers like the music to dismember them. The drum pattern is this is well constructed, allowing he other parts to fall nicely into place as the track plays.
The original is one of those tracks that takes some beating… have they actually done that? It’s not about beating the original but creating a good alternative interpretation and yes… they have accomplished that! The choice of remixers for this project has been spot on!
