Tavres once sang that ‘Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel’ and I think Nicholson found it. Weeks after the release of his latest album Free we have the first single release from it. This is pure heaven!
Teaming up with the angelic vocal talents of Emoiryah they have reworked the Hans Zimmer classic ‘Now We Are Free’ which was originally featured in the Russel Crowe film Gladiator. Carl has well and truly created one hell of a battle weapon here.
This track would work well as an instrumental version but it is the vocal that gives it that added kick. It’s very reminiscent of the good trance that emerged from Germany during the late 90’s and early 2000’s. They don’t make them as good as they used to but this fits right into that euphoric mould. I haven’t heard anything this good since Chicane teamed up with Moya Brennan from the Clannad for ‘Saltwater’.
Imagine peak time at a festival and this dropping! You can just about imagine the heaven’s parting and vibrant rays of sunshine reaching down on the dancefloor as the vocals hit the spot. The vocal is powerful, haunting and emotional. The breakdown is nice and melodic as well as packing more energy than a glucose tablet.
This is a summer sizzler of a trance anthem… just right for sunsets and more!
I’m pleased that there are no additional remixes of this as the track is strong enough to make it to the top solo. Nicholson continues to excel himself and this is evident with each and every release.
